21March2010 - MyLoveForMusic Edition: Eclectic but Classy

{please take time to take this survey. Greatly appreciate it. }
This feels like a NPR podcast for some reason. What I mean by that? A relaxing, laid back, recouping from a rough work and all you want to do is just chill and listen to some quality music and I hope this is what this edition will bring you.

This podcast is going to be relaxing and mostly jazz but I also have a couple of tunes you've heard on the radio

What really inspired this edition was the first two songs at the beginning of the playlist ("The Masked Marvel" by Vince Guaraldi and "Gloomy Sunday" by Billie Holiday and a song from a music artist from the other side of the world.

Kaysha has been on twitter for a while and this guy I have to say is one of the most hardest working cat that's in the music business right now. We have touch base via twitter off and on but for some reason I was led to listen to some of his music and before I knew it I was listening to the track, "The Sweetest Thing" about 10 times straight. I kept playing the tune over and over and it really captured my ear. The cool thing about artists of today some of them actually tweet and I DM'd (Direct Messaged) him asking could I use that track in a future podcast and before I knew he sent me the tune to use and from there my podcast was set in stone.

This edition I wanted to bring you like I always do an eclectic array of music and to let you know that there is great music to be discovered. I love what my brother in podcasting Macedonia quoted from the artist Phonte in regards to great music out here. I understand how Phonte feels. Back in the day you really had to hunt down great music: go to record stores, have the store special order an album for if it wasn't in stock...those were great times.

Now we have so much at our fingertips and are too lazy to search out music. Maybe it's too easy now, maybe it has to be taken away from us in order for many to truly appreciate the great music that is out here for the masses to check out.

Enjoy the tunes I set forth for this edition and as Always...

Be Blessed, Be Safe, and Don't let ANYONE stress you out

    Kaysha's "The Sweetest Thing" {from the "Forever Young" album}

    Funny you come across a song and then it's stuck in your head. I like this cut by Kaysha and you know I rarely feature vocals in my podcast unless I really dig it and this one is pretty cool. from his "Forever Young" album. :-)

    look for this tune to be showing up really soon on my podcast.

    My Thoughts on Atomic Skunk's Forthcoming Album, "Portal"

    When making a gapless album a keepsake is that it has to flow effortlessly and I don't mean blending from one track to another. The compositions has to take you on a journey, it has to make you get caught up in the sounds, the notes, the harmony. When it has been executed right you forget about the time and it makes you reflect on the past, the present, and the future. When it has missed the mark, you're counting the minutes, you're pausing the recording, you are thinking, "what else can I be doing right about now.

    The new album from Rich Brodsky aka Atomic Skunk is truly the former.

    The new album, "Portal" takes you on a journey from one imaginary place to another and the cool thing about it is that when I came from that journey I didn't mind going again.

    His first LP, "Binary Scenes" blew not only me away but so many others that came across his skillful masterpiece. The mixture of electronic and acoustic instrumental sounds combined with sound loops was fun, hypnotic, and a thrill to listen to over and over again. "Portal" continues that journey into the unknown. Some artists have to worry about the "sophomore jinx" but not Atomic Skunk.

    When first hearing "Portal" the first thing I thought of was Andreas Vollenweider's "Down to the Moon" album (which is a gapless) the difference is that Atomic Skunk flows from beginning to end so flawlessly. Atomic Skunk truly takes you to different lands, different universes in the span of a little over an hour. With this well crafted piece of music it is truly audio brought to life. What I love about this album is that how thee journey begins and as it proceeds to another time and place it doesn't let you turn away, not for a second.

    From the title track, "Portal" it was as if curiosity got the best of me because when you see an unknown doorway, you're afraid to venture through it but you do not want to have any regrets so you plunge right in and you begin the trek that you don't know if you made the right decision.

    With the second track, "Dhalang" you come to an unknown place that makes you feel as if you discovered Shangri-La which means you're happy that you looked your fears straight in the face and took the dare to leave your comfort zone, but the best is yet to come.

    What is so wonderful about "Portal" it takes you from land to under the sea to the depth of space and even to an enchanted fairy tale place.

    I loved the track, "The Waltz of the Frog Prince" where it took me back to a time when staying up late at night in bed reading the Grimm Fairy Tales. One thing about the original fairy tales when you truly reflect on them is that they were really dark stories and this track takes you to that place but in the end the outcome is good.

    When listening to the tracks, "Osiris" and "Once More Around Ganymede" it takes you on a journey of time and space. The beauty of these compositions is how he (Atomic Skunk) blends synthesizers, loops, audio voices for the feel of time travel. I can see these tracks being used for NASA when checking out beautiful photographs of our galaxy from the Hubble Telescope and when you hear "Forest for the Trees" you are right back when you first began your exploration.

    This is an work of art for the ears that should be treasured and a must for your music library. This album is made to be shared with friends for a nice, intimate get together or when you need to unwind, let go, reflect and just like you self be caught up in the moment of nothingness.

    MyLoveForMusic: Thank You {06March2010 Edition}

    "In my mind's eye, I visualize how a particular... sight and feeling will appear on a print. If it excites me, there is a good chance it will make a good photograph. It is an intuitive sense, an ability that comes from a lot of practice."
    ~Ansel Adams

    The cool thing about music for me is finding images to go along with my blog post and my podcast. I came up in the era where the art of the album was just as important as the music itself. We now live in a time where liner notes and graphic art in regards to albums are becoming as passe' as CDs...heck, CDs for many is the thing of the past. {Vox Efx | Ouxu | Fave}

    Two reasons why I'm doing this: First, I learning more and more than whenever you are feeling in the dumps the best way to cheer up is to be a blessing in someone else life and second: whenever I have checked out their work and listening to music it has always brought a smile to my face. {Melissa | Anewlis | Todd, KB}

    These gifted individuals are spanned from the East Coast, South, Southeast, Midwest Southwest, West Coast and in the Netherlands. One thing we all have in common is our love for photography and our love for music. For me one can't resist without the other because when I prepare a playlist either an image comes to mind or I can be out photographing and tunes pop in my head. For music is truly the soundtrack of my life and beautiful images are my footprint of my journey of life.

    What I love is that when I began my music podcasts shows I have come across a wonderful array of photographers and web designers that if put to the test could come up with some of the best graphic art for album covers. I know I'm a dinosaur when I say, "album" or "LP" but that's just me.
     { Lauren | Nikki | Jason}

    This podcast is for the photographers and designers that have allowed me to use their work because for me without my podcasts would feel...well, naked. I began using images from the web when I first began my podcast show but now whenever I get a chance I will showcase work by these talents. I've never met any of them in person but as long as we have communicated via twitter, IM, email feels like I've been knowing them for a while. This is just my way of saying thanx to all of you, even though I have never met any of you in person (one day I hope I will) for helping me stay focus to what brings a smile to my face keeping the passion of photography and technology alive within my spirit.

    My prayer is that God allows you to continue your journey in regards to seeing life through the lenses  or creating graphic work and share it with the world whether you're do it professionally of for for pleasure or . I can truly say I'm a better person because I was blessed to cross your path.
    {Eve | Audrey Marie | Luis}

     Enjoy the flow/Be Blessed

    From the bottom of my heart, thank you for sharing your gift with the world.

     {Ray | Angela Michelle | Lilia}
