Opera Soothes the Savage [Rental Agent] Beast

Today working from home was kind of different. Yes, I had the same customers that most of time didn't know what they wanted when it comes to setting up a car rental(it still gives me a headache just thinking how lazy people have becoming when comes to being prepared but that's another post altogether) but the last 2-3 hours I found myself calm and in good spirits and at first I couldn't figure it out until I realized I had the Opera, "Carmen" playing above me on our public television station.

I have never been into opera but for some reason this captured my attention. I didn't even realize it was Carmen until I recognized some of the compositions and in my mind I was like, "this is Carmen, I know it is"...and sure enough it was. I have always said I want to know more about classical music. My love for Jazz, Ambient and other music I truly enjoy but something about classical music gets a hold of me and is really a challenge. I have a long way to catch up on the Jazz realm but classical music is really cool.

I'm not going to lie, the orchestra, the arrangement of the music, the stage, the singing was a delight to see. Two things came to mind: I must begin to become a "doer" and not just a "watching" when it comes to supporting public television and public radio and second, me and my queen must start going to symphonies and operas. Music for me is really universal and by watching this production of "Carmen" just proved that to me. I have tried to watch opera and to be honest it never caught my attention but after going off I found myself standing up at the end of the show in my study clapping and saying "bravo", I was truly moved.

At first I was upset that nothing was on The Travel Channel and it was a Law & Order:Special Victims Unit marathon and at that time I was not in the mood for that because to be honest I truly believe I have seen every episode more than 3 times...really I have but something told me to turn it on our public channel KETC-TV (channel 9) and see what was on and I caught the beginning of "Carmen" and I was hooked. I was a treat to see something of substance on television and a blessing that I had patience to watch this wonderful opera

Bravo.

The lead in "Carmen" was Elina Garanca

MLFM[InspirationSounds] - Podcast #003: "Kingdom Business"

It feels good to bring you another edition of InspirationSounds.  The last time I brought you the last podcast was in February...wow. That's been a while, huh?

Just when I think this podcast has run it's course I realized that it's so much good music for my Lord and Savior and it's up to me to find these gems. The beautiful thing about these podcast is this music is reaching the young in so many format whether it's contemporary, hip-hop, rock, praise and worship because when the all comes down to it Christ Jesus love it when you can reach so many when it comes to love for Him, love and respect for yourself, respecting and cherishing one his greatest creation: woman.

This collection of music is a reflection of that. The cool thing about honoring God is that you he wants you come to him broken and just as you are because whether you come from plenty or just enough in the end we need him and we are nothing without Jesus Christ. What I love about putting these together is that for me I have chance to bring all God's music under one roof and blend it with some of the best instrumental tunes around. Logically, it shouldn't make sense but with everyone I've been placed to fits together and I have always said to myself with this kind of "meshing" of music, "why not?"

Hope you get a chance to not only enjoy the music but zone in on the messages from the tunes from this batch of music.

Be Blessed, Be Safe,
& Have a Wonderful Weekend and Work Week

MLFM Podcast #002 - Starting Over

No this is not the very first music podcast but for me it's like a new beginning in the world of sharing music with the masses.  For me the first podcast for my new start was the "Cool Geeks/Cool Cats" podcast. I don't think that received much downloads but for me it was like a new chapter for me in the world of music.

If you know me by now and have followed my podcast I love music. Mostly instrumentals because for me it's the musicians that are the core of all music. There are a few vocalist I follow (as in this podcast you will hear the voice of Donald Fagen and Stevie Wonder and from time to time other vocalist: Michael Franks, Tanita Tikaram) but mostly you will hear instrumentals because as I have always felt, when it comes to music it should be a "empty canvas" and the listener should paint their own canvas when it comes to the soundtrack of life.

It feels good to be back in the podcasting seat. I've been going through some changes and it has felt as if I have been away for months. I have to admit I haven't felt up to podcasting or blogging but I'm slowing turning the corner of that "funk" mood. I love what a fellow twitter said to me today when I said I was forcing myself into getting back in the podcasting chair again. I have to type this out and make a sign of it,

"Motivting one's self can often be the toughest person to convince"

Funny, in the world of social media it seems like when you are gone for a month it seems like a lifetime but this break has made me realize that life does go on and it makes you appreciate the slowness of the world and that you don't have to keep up every nano second. When I began listening for music for this podcast I was afraid maybe that I may have lost my touch but then I realize that when you love music you never lose your touch for quality music. The selection of music is from Electronic, Standard Jazz, Contemporary Jazz (what I always bring you) but my goal will always be to bring you music that you listen to the corporate office, your home office or if you're just chillin' at home and that's safe in front of the kids because for me music is something that is timeless and not just a fad.

Enjoy.
